May Youth of the Month: Kayla Bloodgood

May 10, 2011

Kayla is a wonderful, caring young adult, who is excited about growing in her faith. She is very active in worship and service and with youth activities throughout the year at St. Paul’s in Exton. She serves on the worship team (praise band) as the drummer for our contemporary service and plays most Sunday mornings. Kayla loves to help others and make a difference and can always be found among the youth at church. She teaches VBS in the summer and actively participates in the Troupe of ACTS, our youth theater ministry. Kayla went to Brooklyn last summer on a mission trip to serve with her friends and she plans to go to Detroit this summer on the Synod youth mission trip and is looking forward to going to New Orleans in 2012. While she was in Brooklyn, she met a young man, Jose, who lost his leg in a subway accident. She felt moved to want to help this boy and came home from Brooklyn and told the church about Jose’s unfortunate accident. She and her friends led a huge effort to raise money for Jose and created The Second Chance Supper. Kayla and her team led the event, served dinner, had entertainment and raffle prizes and rose over $1,700 to help Jose with his medical expenses. Jose and his youth director visited us for the weekend and it was a wonderful Good Samaritan story that Kayla taught our whole church community. Kayla is a great influence on her peers and we are very blessed to have her share her gifts with so many. She has made a very positive impact on youth and adults alike.

Starting in January 2006, the LYO board began recognizing an outstanding youth of our synod each month. We ask you to consider nominating youth that are making a positive impact on their community through church, school or other organizations. Please send nominations to the synod office using the form below:
