As soon as I started looking into destinations for this year’s Servant Trip, I was very excited by the prospect of going to Detroit!  The Motorcity – home of the Model T and Motown music (woah. I never realized there were so many ‘M’s with Detroit).  To me, Detroit has always been a city in the US with a strong personality, and I think there is so much we can learn. I hope to learn about some of the challenges that the people of Detroit see in their communities and what we can do to help.  I want to hear what they love about their city.  I think the best way to learn about a city is getting all the good info from the locals!  Detroit has also come across some pretty difficult times recently with the downturn in the economy.  I’m interested to hear what people think about how their city has changed and how it’s remained the same.  I’m sure I could list a million different questions that I would ask someone, but I’ll be glad to learn anything and everything the people of Detroit are willing to share!
